Yo! My name is Zumbi.

My full name is Olufela Rodriguez, yet I go by my middle name: Zumbi. I was raised in Dayton, OH and now I am set to graduate in spring 2027 from UC DAAP's Industrial Design program.

Art and design has been my central passion for as long as I can remember. Beyond design, I have been practicing art most of my life. I have experience in ceramics, oil paint, ink, charcoal, graphite, and a bit of steel welding. This still remains a hobby and side hustle for me.

Outside of my work, you will probably find me in a record store or playing whatever vinyl or CD I just bought. I also enjoy reading, bouldering, cooking, and traveling.

My Design Philosophy

Design should be guided by the user(s), their needs, and the internal components that make the product work. Everything else is secondary to that.

There is not a specific product group that I intentionally specialize in. I am still exploring what I am most passionate about. What I enjoy about the design process is the 'figuring it out' part: working on sketch ideation, prototyping, and model-making.
